Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs)

I have been working in schools in the London Borough of Havering for just over a year. Last year I trained under the GTP programme at St. Mary’s RC Primary School in Hornchurch, before starting at Ardleigh Green Junior School in September of this academic year.

I have found all the schools in Havering to be extremely progressive and strive to provide all staff with the necessary training and support in order to maintain the high standard of teaching that is associated with this borough. When I came to apply for jobs. I was motivated by the positive outlook of the Headteachers and staff that I met to work for Havering.

As an NQT, I have been very impressed with the level of training I have received. The various co-ordinators I have met have been supportive and sympathetic to our needs as new teachers, and provided us with some great ideas and techniques to take back to our classrooms and schools. At Ardeigh Green there is an open door policy for all staff and, as a school, it is always open to new ideas and suggestions from the staff and children; an attitude which, certainly from my own experience, is central to many of the schools in Havering.
