Intermediate rent: key workers can rent a brand new or refurbished apartment at a subsidised rent. The rent charged is normally 20-30% lower than what you would expect to pay for a similar apartment in the same area.

First Time Buyers Initiative: buy a minimum share of 50% in a brand new home but make no repayments on the part you do not own for the first three years.

London-Wide Initiative: a shared equity scheme for key workers where the government retains a percentage stake in the home you buy. You will not make any monthly repayments on the governments share unless you sell the home or leave your key worker profession.

To apply you can visit www.housingoptions.co.uk to complete an online application form. On the website you can read more detailed information about the initiatives available and also search the thousands of homes available through New Build HomeBuy. If you prefer a paper copy of the application form, you can call Housing Options on 0845 230 8099.

Eligibility terms and conditions apply. All products are subject to availability. Housing Options is a Government backed service run by the London HomeBuy Agents, MHO and Tower Homes. Full and detailed financial information will be provided upon application. Details correct at time of print Aug 2007.
