Housing
Housing prices in Havering are among the more affordable in London, with a wide selection of properties usually available for sale or rent. Affordable housing schemes are also available through Housing Options. Housing Options is the gateway to all affordable housing in London. If you can't afford to buy your own home or rent a good quality home on the open market then Housing options can help you.
Schemes available
New Build HomeBuy: buy a share in a brand new or refurbished home in London and only pay a mortgage on the part that you own (you'd pay a subsidised rent on the part that you don't). Once you’ve bought the home you can buy a further share or even buy the home outright. Council and Housing Association tenants and key workers are a priority for New Build Homebuy homes.
Open Market HomeBuy Update A new version of Open Market HomeBuy (OMHB) has been announced - the ‘Government Loan Only’ product, which was launched in the wake of the recent Housing green paper ‘Homes for the future: more affordable, more sustainable’, can now offer up to 25% of extra purchasing power to HomeBuyers to bridge the gap between income affordability and property prices. New income multiples of 4 x single income and 3.5 joint income will be considered for all Open Market HomeBuyers (subject to IFA assessed affordability).
